Mathematics for Social Science (Code: SSPS08009) 2014-2015 Semester 1

Tangerine

This course aims to provide students with the mathematical foundations that will allow them to fully explore statistical methods. Throughout the course, the application of mathematics to social science research problems will be emphasised. Different mathematical principles will be shown in an applied context, using examples of relevance for social science.

Students can expect to cover some familiar mathematical principles in what may be some less familiar contexts. Examples and exercises drawing on real world data from a variety of social surveys will also be used.
