Dr Alan Marshall appointed as new Q-Step Senior Lecturer
Dr Alan Marshall will be joining the Edinburgh Q-Step Centre as a new Senior Lecturer in Quantitative Methods.
Alan Marshall comes to us from the University of St Andrews where he lectured in Human Geography. With his background in Social Statistics Alan is a perfect fit for our quantitative team. He previously worked as a lecturer in Social Statistics at the Cathie Marsh Institute for Social Research at the University of Manchester and completed his PhD in Social Statistics.
Alan's methodological expertise is in the development of quantitative techniques to derive small area estimates and projections of population and population characteristics (such as disability and ill health). His research is concerned with understanding and describing social and spatial inequalities in health.
Alan will be leading quantitative methods initiatives in the School of Social and Political Science and beyond and will be based in the Social Policy subject area.
